Tempered glass is used in applications where standard glass could pose a potential danger, because it is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not shatter into large shards when broken. Manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, tempered glass is significantly harder than normal glass.
The internal structure and nature of tempered glass causes it to shatter into small, oval-shaped pebbles when broken. This eliminates the danger of sharp edges. Due to this property – along with its strength – empered glass is often referred to as “safety glass.”
Reflective Glass Showers & Mirrors LLC offers safety-cut tempered glass and tempered glass panels at affordable prices.
The term “beveled glass” refers to the process of cutting the edges of a piece of glass to a specific angle and thickness in order to produce an elegant, framed look. This process leaves the glass thinner around the edges of the piece, while the large middle portion remains thicker. Beveling is normally applied to glass that will serve as a focal point in a room or design.
Beveling can be applied to many glass applications. Beveled glass table tops and beveled glass table covers are very popular. Custom-beveled glass table tops add just a touch of elegance to the table or desk on which they are used without dominating the piece – or the decor of the room – in which they’re placed.
You may also choose to combine strength with beauty. Beveled edges can be applied to tempered glass, giving you the option to enjoy the decorative look in a stronger, more durable tempered glass piece.
The bevel around a piece of glass can range in size from 1/4 inch to 1-3/4 inches. The edges of the bevel are determined by the thickness of the glass.
Laminated glass takes the idea of safety glass to the next level. Where tempered glass, in the event of breakage, breaks into dull pieces, you still have pieces of glass to deal with. The idea behind laminated glass is, in the extreme event of breakage, those pieces of glass stay in place. Laminated glass is created by adhering two pieces of tempered glass together with a vinyl layer. This layer will continue to hold the glass together in the event an object passes through or strikes the glass.
By default, laminated glass is 1/4″ thick, due to its greater strength at that thickness. Laminated glass comes in both clear glass and white glass, with seamed or flat-polished edges. Order your custom-cut laminated glass today.
We create insulated window glass by placing a space between two panes of glass and sealing the edges of the unit. The air trapped between the panes acts as an insulator, reducing the rate at which heat and cold can pass through it, thus improving a building’s energy efficiency.
For an even more dramatic reduction in energy transfer, we substitute one of the two pieces of glass with our Low-E glass.
Strong, versatile and lightweight, acrylic lends itself to a wide variety of building and design applications. End products include skylights, storm windows, shower stalls, partitions, lighting diffusers, railings, picture framing of every size, protective coverings for museum-quality art preservation, aquarium tanks, infrared windows, retail casing and displays, architectural and vehicle glazing, noise insulation, lenses, pediatric incubators, advertising displays, outdoor signs, and much more.
We offer replacement of large and small missile-impact-resistant glass. Because we have direct contact with the manufacturers, we provide replacement glass that matches the exact description of the original. This will assure the continuity of your impact, thermal and acoustical protection in addition to ensuring a consistent appearance.
